Can understand and use familiar, everyday expressions and very simple sentences aimed at meeting specific needs. Can introduce himself / herself and others and ask other people questions about them - e.g. where they live, what kind of people they know or what kind of things they have - and can answer questions like that. Can communicate in a simple way if the person you are talking to speaks slowly and clearly and is willing to help.
